Special Child Care Acknowledgments
I have worked hard to gain the experience and expertise that enable me to provide quality child care for you and your child(ren).
In the past few years I have been honored to have four separate organizations recognize my commitment to the early childhood field.
Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential's in June of 2009
The CDA credential was developed in the 1970s as a way to insure that families could obtain consistent, quality childcare for their children in a variety of settings. During this period, it became clear that young children benefited from organized, developmentally-appropriate experiences that might not always be available strictly in their homes. The goal of the CDA Program is to provide consistent education for childcare professionals and consistent care for children. The program today is overseen by the Council for Professional Recognition and the National Association for the Education of Young Children, which work together to maintain and update standards. The Program is available throughout the US and is conducted locally by a variety of community social-service agencies and most community colleges. The benefits of obtaining a CDA certification are becoming more clear. Everyone benefits from the decision to do this: providers, families, and all the children who come into our programs care: past, current, and future.
With the help of Lakes and Pines CAC Head Start, I was able to pursue my CDA and I received it in a one year commitment.
Allies in Action Award presented by Lakes and Pines CAC in October of 2009

Parent Aware Rating “Four Star” January 6, 2013 and current
First Family Child Care in Mille Lacs County that is Parent Aware Rated “Four Star”
Website:http://parentaware.org/
Parent Aware Star Ratings help providers better prepare children for school and life. All Star-Rated Programs go above and beyond licensing requirements to support school readiness. By voluntarily becoming rated, a program shows it cares enough about early learning to use the best practices and proven approaches. With non-rated programs, even though they may be licensed, parents do not have the same assurances about early education quality. Parent Aware participants volunteer for extra in-depth training, devote themselves to strong, caring relationships with each child, adopt the latest approaches to keeping children's learning on track, committed to daily activities and routines that help children learn, and place a focus on children's health and safety.
With the help of Lakes and Pines CAC Head Start I was able to receive my "Four Start Rating" before any other Mille Lacs County Provider. Having the Parent Aware involved in my program has benefited us a whole program.

NAFCC Accreditation since July 1, 2015
NAFCC Accreditation is awarded to family child care providers who meet the eligibility requirements and the Quality Standards for NAFCC Accreditation. Accreditation reflects a high level of quality through a process that examines all aspects of the family child care program, i.e. relationships, the environment, developmental learning activities, safety and health, and professional and business practices. Once family child care providers become accredited, they agree to abide by the standards set forth and to be measured against those standards, with periodic integrity and compliance reviews.

In this 30 hour class we learned more information about infant/toddlers, promoting parent involvement, establishing supporting relationship with families, and professional growth. In taking this course I was able to learn more about the brain development on infants/toddlers and learned new ways to get families involved into my program in a more creative way. My families really enjoyed hearing and learning about the new things that I learned from this 30 hour course.
